Host Joule

PIONEER THE FUTURE OF OCEAN-BASED ENERY STORAGE

Host a Joule Pilot Site - pioneer the future of ocean-based energy storage.

We’re seeking select partners with access to deep water and a grid connection, such as offshore wind, solar, or wave power operators - to host pilot deployments of Joule’s Modulated Buoyancy Energy Storage (MBES) technology.

Every decade, a few projects redefine what’s possible in clean energy. Hosting a Joule pilot isn’t just participation, it’s leadership. It’s your chance to demonstrate the world’s first scalable, zero-emission ocean storage system and showcase how renewable energy can be stored when it’s abundant and delivered when it’s most valuable.

Why host a Joule pilot?

  • Avoid curtailment: Capture energy you’re forced to spill today and shift it into peak-demand windows.
  • Monetize timing: Sell stored energy when market prices spike, turning waste into profit.
  • Stack revenues: Tap into capacity payments, ancillary services, and congestion relief depending on market rules.
  • Complement renewables: MBES installs below the surface, no land use, no freshwater, no emissions, no noise.
  • Demonstrate leadership: Be among the first to validate ocean-based long-duration storage at your site.

Ideal pilot hosts:

  • Offshore wind, solar, or wave projects facing curtailment
  • Ports or marinas with 200 - 500m+ nearby depth (depending on site design)
  • Existing or planned grid interconnections
  • Interest in market participation for arbitrage and grid services

What we’ll explore together:

  • Site suitability (bathymetry, seabed conditions, metocean data)
  • Interconnection and control integration
  • Dispatch strategies for curtailment capture → peak delivery
  • Technical and economic performance validation

We’re highly selective, not every site qualifies. But for those that do, the opportunity to pioneer ocean-based energy storage is unmatched.

If you’re ready to explore a pilot, this is your moment to lead.
